STEP 1:
1 cup Quick Oats
1½ tablespoons butter or margarine
1 tablespoon sugar
Melt the butter or margarine. Add oats and sugar. Cook stirring continuously until lightly brown. Set aside to cool.
STEP 2:
5 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1/3 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/3 cup walnuts (chopped)
Beat butter or margarine until creamy. Add sugar and egg and beat until creamy. Mix baking powder with flour and beat in creamy mixture. Stir in toasted oats (step 1) and nuts. Drop batter from a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 375º for 8-10 minutes until light brown.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
